April 22 was chosen as Earth Day by Gaylord Nelson, the founder of Earth Day. The importance of Earth Day is to increase the awareness among common public, especially among youngsters, to get full effect of the campaign of environmental safety.
This day we started at the auditorium of gymnasium where students took part in two quizzes. The quiz “The Earth and people" was organized for students’ and teachers’ teams. Both teams had to perform various tasks creatively. Teachers and pupils were very successful, so there were no unhappy faces. The second quiz was consisted of four stages: "Earth is the Planet of the Solar System", "Processes and phenomena on Earth", "Life diversity", "Ecology". There were 8 pupils in the team from each class, but after each stage two team members had be changed. The students had to demonstrate not only their cleverness, but also the knowledge. So, almost everyone could test their skills and their knowledge.
Later 12 girls went to our capital Vilnius to dance “DANCE OF THE EARTH„. The idea of dance to the Earth is one day, at one time, in a chosen place, to unite in a common dance for life on Earth, for our planet. All dancers were wearing white clothing and it was really impressive. 12 different schools and kinder gardens from Lithuania took part in the main event. But around all Lithuania this dance danced more than 5000 participants, 140 collectives in streets of towns, cities or squares of schools and kindergartens.
At the same time other participates of project organised campaign “Happy water”. We went to the nearest lake to clean and protect water recourses.
